An epic stretch of schedule mercifully meets its conclusion for the Philadelphia Eagles in the Monday Night Football odds.
Like Frodo and Sam clawing their weary bodies up the side of Mount Doom, Philadelphia travels across the country to play the Seattle Seahawks in the Week 15 odds finale — the last of a gauntlet of games that started way back in Week 7.
This chunk of the calendar has taken its toll on the reigning NFC champs, with the Eagles losing the past two games by a combined score of 77-32. To add insult to injury, quarterback Jalen Hurts is questionable for tonight’s tilt due to illness.
Seattle is mired in a slump of its own, losing four in a row and five of its last six since Week 9. However, the Seahawks may act more like buzzards and pick apart the scraps of whatever is left of Philly at this point.
I run down the spread and Over/Under total for Monday Night Football and give my best NFL picks for Eagles vs. Seahawks on Monday, December 18.

Eagles vs Seahawks predictions
There has been a surplus of criticisms and complaints coming out of the Philadelphia Eagles’ two-game losing blip, including remarks about the offense being as stale as a fruitcake in January.
Offensive coordinator Brian Johnson, who took over for departed OC Shane Steichen this offseason, was called out for having tunnel vision in Philadelphia’s 33-13 loss to the Cowboys last weekend.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts threw the ball 27 times and all but one of those targets were to either A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, or tight end Dallas Goedert. Hurts completed only 18 of those attempts for a total of 197 yards.
Rumblings leaking from the locker room included players complaining about the cookie-cutter play calling, predictability, and reliance on deeper plays that take too much time to develop. While the coaching staff tried to douse those flames when questioned, they did mention the need to complement their go-to plays and be less predictable.
One piece of this scoring attack that wasn’t there in Week 14 was running backs catching passes. One running back who’s been especially potent in a receiving role is Kenneth Gainwell. He wasn’t targeted a single time last Sunday — just the second time that’s happened all season.
Gainwell had reeled in five of six targets for 42 yards in the one-sided loss to San Francisco in Week 13 and has drawn more pass attempts (16) than fellow running back D’Andre Swift (15) since Week 8.
Gainwell’s receiving yard prop for Monday Night Football reflects last week’s goose egg, with this Over/Under set at a modest 8.5 yards through the air. This number is two yards shorter than the 10.5-yard total Gainwell has been tagged with in four of his last five contests.
Player projections all sit above 8.5 receiving yards for the Philadelphia RB, with a ceiling of 13+ and my forecast calling for 11.9 yards.
The Seattle Seahawks defense has allowed the 10th-most receiving yards to rival running backs this season, giving up 7.8 yards per reception to the position. Seattle also allows the seventh-most yards after the catch and sits third worst in missed tackles in 2023.
The Seahawks run zone at the second-highest rate in the NFL and will be focusing on slowing those deeper threats in Brown and Smith, which means the short to intermediate routes will face softer coverage underneath — a perfect place for Gainwell to operate.
With the Eagles looking to shake up the play calling for quicker hits to set up those shots over the top, the opportunities for Gainwell to make good on those Week 15 projections will be there Monday night.
My best bet: Kenneth Gainwell Over 8.5 receiving yards (-114 at FanDuel)Picks made at time of writing may not reflect live odds.

Gainwell doesn’t have to do much to pass this prop total and is set up well against this Seattle defense to do so.
If the Eagles are on the goal line, you know who’s getting the ball. Hurts has 12 rushing scores this season and six in his last five games.
Even with Walker back, Zach Charbonnet is seeing his share of carries and making the most of those runs. Most models have him north of 40 yards.

Eagles vs Seahawks spread and Over/Under analysis
The Eagles opened as big as 5-point road favorites following their one-sided loss at Dallas last Sunday, and this spread bounced between that number and -4.5 early in the week.
However, action showed up on Seattle in the coming days and bumped this down to Philly -3 and that’s since slimmed to -2.5 with Eagles QB Jalen Hurst listed as questionable due to illness. Hurts traveled to Seattle but flew separately from the team as to not get any of his teammates sick. Covers Consensus shows 62% of picks siding the road favorite on Monday night.
Philadelphia finishes a challenging span of games in Week 15, traveling to Seattle after facing Miami, Washington, Kansas City, Buffalo, San Franciso, and Dallas twice since Week 7.
That stretch started well for the Eagles, who scored wins in the first five games but started to show cracks the past two outings, getting blasted by the 49ers and Cowboys in back-to-back weeks. Both sides of the ball are at fault for this fallout, but the defense remains the biggest weakness for Philadelphia.
What was once the premier stop unit in the NFL enters Week 15 ranked 29th in EPA allowed per play and 20th in Defensive DVOA. The Eagles are attempting to shake up the stop unit by having defensive assistant Matt Patricia call the plays Monday while defensive coordinator Sean Desai will move to the coaching booth.
The Seahawks seemed destined for a postseason ticket but have flopped in the last four games and have only one victory in the last six outings. Seattle has also taken on some top-tier foes in that span, facing Dallas and San Francisco twice along with the rival Rams.
Quarterback Geno Smith missed Week 14’s loss to the Niners with a groin injury and is questionable for this run-in with the Eagles. He didn’t practice Friday but does have the extra rest day due to the Monday scheduling. Smith is a true game-time decision and if he can’t go, the Seahawks will turn to QB2 Drew Lock again.
This Over/Under total opened at 47.5 points and has since climbed to 48 at some sportsbooks. With the news that Hurts’ illness was worse and his status up in the air, the number slipped to 45 points on Sunday morning. Covers Consensus shows 56% of picks taking the Over on Monday Night Football.
The Eagles enter Week 15 with a 7-6 O/U mark on the year, but their recent defensive shortcomings have helped push four of the last five totals Over the number. As for Seattle, it’s 6-7 O/U on the season, but 4-2 O/U inside Lumen Field.
The forecast for Monday night calls for a chance of showers and game-time temperatures in the low 40s. Winds aren’t much of a factor, blowing up to 9 mph.
